Jeep & Camel Safari of Gran Canaria

Similar to the above Jeep Safara but also includes a Camel Safari. These are usually at one of the Camel ranches in the mountain foot hills, such as Camel Park Arteara or La Baranda Camel Safari Park both marked on our attractions map, or the Maspalomas camel Safari may be used.

Because the Camel Safari takes up time, the Jeep Safari does not go as far into the mountains.

Caldera de Bandama

The Caldera de Bandama is located 20 minutes by car or about 35 minutes by the Global bus route 311, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

• The most famous Caldera on Gran Canaris, probably due to its almost perfect circular shape and a main road runs along part of the rim giving easy access to views.
• Nicknamed the Magic Cauldron. A large cauldron shaped depression formed when the core of a volcano collapse inwards after a large eruption.
• Mainly wild but some areas of cultivation
• There are some disused farm buildings in the bottom
• If descending expect it to be hot, it's a natural sun trap. & tends to lack cooling breezes.
• The best trail down is from the village in the north west corner where there are strategic viewpoints just below the rim.
• There is also a trail path around the rim, giving a great view experience.
• Don't forget sunscreen, sun hat & water if undertaking either of these walks.

• Is a massive Caldera 28 km by 18k (17 by 11 miles)in the Municipality of Tejeda whose Tejeda town lies on the north west side of the Caldera.
• The very high core of the Caldera is in the form of a narrow ridge whose very famous peaks rise way above the Caldera rim and a main sightseeing attraction in the islands mountainous centre
• The main peaks within the caldera are Roque Nublo, El Fraile, La Rana Roque Bentayga & La  Fogalera Cliff

Maspalomas Sand Dunes Walk

The best place to start your walk is from the RIU Maspalomas Palace hotel use the public footpath that is through the Archway at the Hotel Entrance.

The path leads to a View point (Mirador) that is reasonably high giving you magnificent views across the dunes to the sea & Mapalomas Faro (Lighthouse)

Alternative start points are from the beaches of Maspalomas or Playa del Ingles.

Walking off the marked trails where the sand is very soft is extremely trying especially on the steep slopes

The dunes can be very hot, to hot to walk on in bare feet

Take a bottle of water with you

At the start of the walk. Face where you want to head to and Take a note of the suns direction. You can use this as a guide. Also the hills inland, the RIU Maspalomas Palace hotel, The Faro Lighthouse and the

Maspalomas Sand Dunes Walk

This is a very popular walk between the beach cafes at the Oasis shopping centre Maspalomas and The anexo shopping centre at Playa del Ingles. 4.6kilometres, or if you want to continue to beach end at Hotel Dunas Gregory near San Agustin 7kilometres

Most people don't walk the full distance doing an about turn when they have gone far enough
